It doesn’t happen always that you have a separate space to meditate, but if you are lucky enough to dedicate a sacred space for your meditations, then here are a few guidelines to make the most of that space!

  • Make sure to have around you some things you love
  • Art with positive affirmations and messages to set the mood right
  • Buddha figure – if you believe in Buddha or not, I always find it adds a bit of calmness
  • Plants – keep them fresh and alive, since they resemble life and growth
  • Mood lighting – candles, dimmed light fixtures, Himalayan Salt Lamps
  • Comfortable Seating – usually on the floor, with cushions and mats
  • Capability for playing music – it calms the mind farther, and blocks any outside sounds that can be distracting
  • Keep the space dust and dirt free, since it is considered sacred
  • Feed your smell senses, a bit of heated essential oil of your choice, or a light scented candle, that is not too strong of a scent
  • Crystals – if you are a believer of calming, and positive effects of blessed crystals, then have a few around to further boost the positive energy
  • Keep the colors light and neutral, for an overall zen feeling
  • An element of water – dripping water from electric water fountains always add a sense of calmness, and the feel of outdoors
